A rural and urban young lady, the first seated under a tree, in a wide-brimmed hat and lace shawl, reading a book held up in her left hand; the second seated, to left, smiling towards the viewer from beneath a large-brimmed hat with tall plumes, her hands joined and resting on the round table in front of her.
