An illustration to an article by William Hunter in 'Philosophical Transactions' on an Indian antelope called a nylghau. Hunter had observed the animal as a small herd and had been sent to England from Bombay by governor Cromelen as a present for Lord Clive. Bound with the article which it illustrated. The original painting by George Stubbs was commissioned and supervised by Hunter, and is praised in the article which says 'Whoever looks at the picture...can never be at a loss to know the Nyl-ghau'.
