A view showing the running of the last lottery held in the UK until 1994. Following mounting opposition to the practice, government outlawed the practice and the last lottery was held on 18th July 1826. The scene shows various clerks and boys from Christ Hospital school in their recognizable blue coats. There were six prizes of £30,000 to be won. The lottery was derided for its lack of organisation.

John Bull, a yokel in a smock, stands at a closed door above which is an inscription: 'Rebuilt with Portland Stone in the Beginning of the Nineteenth Century'. Above is a window from which a man leans, saying 'By St Dennis Mr Bull, you seem in a Brown Quandary - but dont be angry - you have nothing to do with the business we are about - it is quite of a private nature'. In July 1807, after the collapse of the Ministry of all the Talents, Samuel Whitbread moved for a Committee on the State of the Nation. Dennis Browne, M.P. for Mayo, called for the exclusion of strangers (non-MPs), and the galleries were cleared.

No building in England is more famous than this "humble" cottage, and no place excepting Shakespeare's Birthplace has more visitors. The cottage, or house, is furnished in a homely style. In one room is the famous courting settle beside the hearth, where it would be well in view of the parents sitting at either end of the chimney corner. The house is of interest as a typical thatched Elizabethan farmstead, but it is its association with Shakespeare that has made it a centre of attraction for visitors to Stratford.]

Castor et Pollux. A large steam-driven coach passing an ale-house on the London to Bath road, with passengers including a kilted soldier. In the background are amazed spectators and a windmill. In July 1829 a steam coach built by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney (1793-1875) ran from London to Bath and back at an average speed of 14mph, double that of a horse-draen coach. However the introduction of heavy tolls for his vehicles and Gurney was bankrupted with debts of £232,000.

Goldsworthy Gurney痴 Steam Carriage passing the gates of Hyde Park, with passengers onboard including a mother and child peeping out through the window of the carriage in the centre, and a boy playing a trumpet towards the front. There are four chimneys at the rear of the coach. Passers by, including one figure on a donkey, can be seen looking at the coach.

Six items laid on thick paper, including a letter, a written slip, two news clippings, a patent for an engine and a lithographed sheet of illustrations of engines.
The letter is an offer to submit a tender by the Glasgow firm Tod & Macgregor, builders of steam engines; the slip part of a prospectus for the fitting of a ship; one newspaper clipping relates to the sea trials of HMS Rattler, the first British (and arguably global) screw-driven warship, the other about the launch of an iron schooner for the Baptist Missionaries to Africa; the patent describes the 'Cambrian Patent Steam Engine', designed by Aspinall, Jones & Co, Smethwick, and the illustration seems to give examples of its use.
