Early view of the prison on the island of Portland, Dorset, which opened in 1848. The convicts moving carts full of rubble and laying roads in the foreground refer to the work on a new coastal defence scheme that early convicts at the prison were required to contribute to. Since the early twentieth century the prison has functioned under various guises as an establishment for young offenders.

Limited to an edition of 50, it contains 100 of his plates, including this one.

An intimate study of an man in profile a religious habit - possibly a monk, priest or penitent - after an old master drawing. Giuseppe Zocchi (1711-1767), draughtsman and etcher in Florence. Perhaps this is one of the series of plates registered in the BM under the title 'Luti collection', after drawings by Julio Romano, Michelangelo, Pietro Cortone, Titiano, Pietro Testa, Guercino, Rembrandt, Paolo Panini, Elsheimer, Benedetto Lutti. As well as by Zocchi, the plates were made by Bartolozzi and Zuccarelli. This seems to be a later impression, perhaps published in Britain.

A map of Portugal, engraved by Baptista van Doetecum in 1600 after Fernando Alvares Secco's map of 1561, here published in a German editon of the Mercator-Hondius atlas. It is one of the most striking of 17th century maps of Portugal, and one of the few in the atlas to be printed from a purchased plate rather than engraved in-house.
