Sommariva, who was bessotted with the statue, referred to the sculpture as '[his] bride' and placed at the foot of his bed in his Parisian house.

[St Paul's Cathedral from 'View of the North Bank of the Thames from Westminster Bridge to London Bridge'.
[Lithographed by Thomas Mann Baynes after Sir Frederick William Trench.]
[n.d., 1825.]
Lithograph ON SILK. 220 x 595mm (8¾ x 23½"), laid on card. Some foxing and wear to backing card.
An extremely rare printing on silk of one of the sheets of Trench's prospect of the Thames with his proposed improvements, including the creation of an Embankment. In 1824 Trench, then MP for Cambridge, launched a project for a terrace on the north side of the Thames from Blackfriars to Charing Cross, bringing a bill before Parliament and publishing this long rolling prospect of the river. Although his plan was blocked by powerful interests he continued his campaign, after cholera ravaged parts of the city. Only after he died in 1859 did Parliament finally give the project to Sir Joseph Bazalgette.

A horned Abercorn puts the ring on the finger of Anne who turns aside to point up at a high alcove, serving as an altar, in which are the torso of a grinning satyr and two goats. A woman in a veiled shroud stands behind her presumably the ghost of the first wife of Abercorn, Catherine Copley who died 13th September 1791. Behind Abercorn stand three crying women who are most likely his daughters from his first marriage: Harriet, Maria and Catherine Hamilton.

A Tigress.
A Tigress.
Engraved by John Murphy by Permission of Mr. George Stubbs from the Picture Painted by himself and in his Possession.
London, Published July 27, 1798 by J. Murphy, North side Paddington Green.
Coloured mezzotint. Sheet 490 x 610mm (19¼ x 24"). Trimmed to platemark. Very slight hole above tiger's head.
A very rare mezzotint, probably engraved from the life-size portrait of the Royal Tiger in Stubbs's possession when he died. The painting had originally been engraved by John Dixon in 1772; however that mezzotint plate had been destroyed, so John Murphy was allowed to engrave a new plate. A beautifully-coloured example of one of the finest images produced in the history of mezzotint.
