Venus reclining on a cloud holding up an arrow in her right hand; Cupid stands holding an inscribed scroll wiping away a tear from his cheek with the back of his left hand. A grinning putto lies behind Venus holding another arrow upwards provocatively.

A portrait of Maria, Duchess of Gloucester and Edinburgh (1736 - 1807), half-length seated to the left, looking at her young daughter, Elizabeth Laura, Countess Waldegrave (1760 - 1816) curled up against her chest, and wrapping her in ermine-lined mantle. The widow of James Waldgrave, second Earl Waldegrave (1715-1763), Maria later married Prince William Henry, first Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh (1743-1805), the father of Elizabeth.

Thomas Warton the Younger (1728 - 1790), historian of English poetry and Poet Laureate. The portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723 - 1792) is in the common room of Trinity College, Oxford. It was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1784.

Caleb Whitefoord (1734-1810), wit and Diplomat. Friendship with Benjamin Franklin led to Whitefoord being chosen by Shelburne in 1782 as intermediary between Franklin, as minister of the United States at Versailles, and the British government. Whitefoord went to Paris in April and served for a year as secretary to the commission which concluded the peace with America.

Harry Woodward (1714-77), actor and pantomimist who opened the Crow-street Theatre in Dublin in 1758, but after the venture failed enjoyed a successful career in London. The two daughters of Philip Yorke, 2nd Earl Hardwicke, and his wife, Jemima, Countess De Grey and Baroness of Crudwell. The two children stand in a garden beside a sphinx on a pedestal, Lady Amabel Grey on the left with a dove perched on her right hand, and Lady Mary Jemima running towards her holding another dove, a poodle at her heels. The children grew up to become: Amabel Hume-Campbell, Countess de Grey (1751-1833), the political writer and amateur artist; and Mary Jemima Robinson, known as Lady Grantham (1757-1830), mother of Prime Minister Viscount Goderich.
