Charming semi-caricatured vignettes of Neapolitan street life, in vibrant contemporary hand colour, from the series 'Nuova Raccolta di scene popolari e costumi di Napoli disegnati esattamente dal vero'. They include crowd watching a Punch and Judy show, a religious procession with icon commemorating the Holy Virgin, a water-seller and soldier refreshing, a barber, roast chestnut seller, and a tambourine-seller. Hfalmar Mörner (1794 - 1837) was a Swedish count and amateur etcher; in Rome 1816-28.

A view of the Palamide, Napoli di Romania, which was the capital of the Morea during the Venetian rule. The town of Nafplio, the seaport town in the Peloponnese in Greece. The Venetians retook Nafplio in 1685 and strengthened the city by building the castle of Palamidi, which was the last major construction of the Venetian empire overseas. It was however defended by few soldiers and was easily retaken by the Ottomans in 1715.

A view of the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua, a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica in Padua, northern Italy. Although the Basilica is visited as a place of pilgrimage by people from all over the world, it is not the principal cathedral of the city, a title belonging to the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Mary of Padua. To the right is the Equestrian Statue of Gattamelata by Italian early Renaissance artist Donatello, dating from 1453. It portrays the Renaissance condottiero Erasmo da Narni, known as 'Gattamelata', who served mostly under the Republic of Venice, which ruled Padua at the time.

The Papal States, States of the Church, or Pontifical States were one of the major historical states of Italy from roughly the 6th century until the Italian peninsula was unified in 1861 by the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia (after which the Papal States, in less territorially extensive form, continued to exist until 1870). The Papal States comprised territories under direct sovereign rule of the papacy, and at its height it covered most of the modern Italian regions of Romagna, Marche, Umbria and Lazio.

A half-length profile portrait within an oval border, one of four 'Ladies in Foreign Dress'. The artist is Matthew William Peters (1742-1814), most famous for his provocative painting of a courtesan (known as 'Lydia' in the mezzotint copy). He came to regret his choice of subject, as he was ordained in 1781, becoming the Royal Academy's chaplain (1784-8), then chaplain to the Prince of Wales.
