The Dutch capture of Kochi (Cochin) from the Portuguese in 1663 with several large warships firing toward the town. The plate was engraved by Dutchman Coenraet Decker (c.1650-85), a pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe, as an illustration of Johan Nieuhof's Travels, 1682. This version, with an English title, was first published in 1703 but was reissued up to 1745.

The temple had two sets of courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms. Three-hundred crocodile mummies were discovered in the area of the temple. Charles Dietrich Eberhard Konig (1774-1851), a German naturalist who came to England in 1800 to organize the collections of Queen Charlotte. He then became assistant to Dryander, librarian to Joseph Banks, before beoming assistant keeper of natural history in the British Museum in 1807 and keeper in 1813. In 1837 the Department of Natural History was divided into three branches; Konig took charge of Geology and Mineralogy, a post he held until his death. His 'Icones fossilium sectiles' (1820-5) is a classic text in that field. 'E.H. Eddis' is likely Eden Upton Eddis.

A scene of one of the last naval actions of the 100 Days, Napoleon's attempt to win back his throne, ended by Waterloo. Sir Charles Malcolm (1782–1851) landed a party of seamen and marines at Koréjou (east of Abervrach on the coast of Brittany), stormed the battery, and brought out of the harbour three small armed vessels and a convoy under their protection.
