Princess Augusta Sophia (1768-1840) sat at a loom, spinning thread through her fingers. She was the sixth child and second daughter of George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Engraved by Captain William Baillie (1723-1810). Baillie retired from the army in 1761 with the rank of Captain and thereafter devoted himself to printmaking and dealing. He specialised in imitating old-master drawings and prints, using a variety of printmaking techniques.
