The Virgin, infant Christ and John the Baptist. The composition bears some similarities to Raphael's 'Madonna della Seggiola' (Florence, Pitti Palace) but the attribution to Raphael here is far from certain. The engraver P.W. Tomkins was one of many students of Francesco Bartolozzi who noted on his own prints that he had been taught by that most celebrated of stipple engravers.

St Teresa of Avila kneeling in ecstasy and surrounded by angels. Plate from an early edition of the 'Opus Elegantissimum' published by Valk, which contained etchings by Gérard de Lairesse (1640-1711) along with a selection of plates (such as this) after his designs. The publication line at the bottom was changed several times in later publications.

A portrait of Saint Veronica, a woman of Jerusalem who offered her veil to Jesus to mop his brow while carrying the cross. When he returned the veil to Veronica his face had miraculously been impressed upon it. A woodcut by the monogrammist BTA, probably for a Carmelite order in Venice in the first half of the 16th century.
