A broadside celebrating the actions of Richard Pendrill, who, along with his four brothers George, Humphrey, John and William helped Charles II escape from England after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester during his failed attempt to regain control of England from Cromwell in 1651. The Pendrills were a Royalist family who lived and worked on the estate of Boscobel House where the King sought refuge after his defeat. Having been forced to hide in an oak tree in order to escape Cromwell's troops, Charles and the Royalist Colonel Carlos finally managed to escape disguised as land workers and were escorted by the Pendrills. The Pendrill brothers were richly rewarded when Charles II was restored to the throne in 1660.
