The Army of Reserve Act of July 1803 was intended to counter the renewed threat from Napoleonic France after the Peace of Amiens. It introduced a conscription ballot for militia to serve within the United Kingdom, but also the ability to pay a subscription to avoid being called up, which would be used to pay for another man to take the place of the subscriber.

The Army of Reserve Act of July 1803 was intended to counter the renewed threat from Napoleonic France after the Peace of Amiens. It introduced a conscription ballot for militia to serve within the United Kingdom, but also the ability to pay a subscription to avoid being called up, which would be used to pay for another man to take the place of the subscriber. Strangely this example of the subscription receipt has the stamp and signatures of two churchwardens but no name for the draft dodger.

An assemblage portrait, with a woman's face and a body created from flowers, with a tulip forming her skirt, one of a series of professions. George Spratt, an English artist, and George E. Madeley, an English engraver and printmaker, produced a series of lithographed satirical designs of tradesmen composed of the objects of their profession. They were published by Charles Tilt, a London book and print seller.

A puzzle print with portraits 'hidden' in the branches and foliage of the Royal Oak, the tree in which Charles II hid to escape the Roundheads following the Battle of Worcester in 1651. A key lists only 14 of the twenty portraits of the Victorian royal family and politicians: ''The Duke of Sussex, Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Albert, Queen Adelaide, The Prince of Wales, the Princess Royal, Duke of Wellington, Sir Robert Peel, Lord Brougham, Lord John Russell, Prince George, Lord Melbourne, Daniel O'Connell, Father Mathew, &c.&c.''.

Above his grave on St Helena, the profile of Napoleon Bonaparte can be discerned within the two trunks of willow trees. A woman in a mourning veil holds a wreath, the French Imperial eagle at her feet. This one of several puzzle-type prints on the same theme published in the aftermath of Napoleon's death.

A satire of the recent change of government from Whig (under William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, the last Prime Minister to be sacked by a monarch) to Tory (under Robert Peel), taking the form of a service at a funeral, with a speaker/minister and respondant, praying to William IV for deliverance. The satire is not partisan: the Speaker says 'although we despise the Whigs, yet do we utterly detest the Tories'.
