Sir Francis Grant RA (1803-1878) was a Scottish artist who served as President of the Royal Academy. He eventually established himself as a highly sought-after portrait painter and his subjects included Queen Victoria, Lord Palmerston, Benjamin Disraeli, Algernon Percy and Prince Albert. John Scott, 1st Earl of Eldon (1751-1838), British barrister and politican. He served as Lord Chancellor of Great Britain between 1801 and 1806 and again between 1807 and 1827. Engraved from a painting by Thomas Lawrence, President of the Royal Academy and the pre-eminent portrait painter of his generation. Provenance: Elizabeth Anne Hippisley of Ston Easton.
