William Yardley (1849-1900), who played first-class cricket for Kent 1868-78 and for Cambridge University 1869-72. In 1870 he scored the first century in the history of the University Match. Only WG Grace was reckoned a better batsmen among amateur players: when Yardley Grace were on the same side they used to have a small bet on who would record the higher score. Yardley was proud that in the Gentlemen v Players match at Lord's in 1871, he beat Grace's score in both innings.

From about 1829 Constable and Lucas worked together on a series of mezzotints after sketches and paintings by Constable called 'Various Subjects of Landscape...' published in parts between 1830 and 1832. In 1843 Charles Robert Leslie published his 'Memoirs of John Constable Esq. R.A'. He obtained directly from the Constable family 186 sets of 22 images of the Various Subjects of Landscape in return for 30 copies of his book. This mezzotint is one of those; "see Tate John Constable, David Lucas".

Mary Ann Yates (née Graham) (1728-1787), actress and theatre manager. She made her debut with Garrick's Drury Lane company in 1754 and in 1756 married another member of the company, the recently-widowed comedian Richard Yates (1706?-1796). She remained a regular member of Garrick's company until 1767, when she switched her allegiances to the rival Covent Garden Theatre, allegedly for financial reasons (although Yates denied this). She then broke with Covent Garden, less for financial reasons than the company's reluctance to retain Richard Yates, and in 1773 she took over management, with novelist and playwright Frances Brooke, of the King's Theatre, then London's home of opera. Around this time Richard Yates took over a playhouse in Birmingham, where Mary Ann sometimes performed. Having improved the fortunes of the King's Theatre, Yates returned to Drury Lane and sold her share in the King's Theatre. London's leading tragedienne of the period, Yates was admired by the public, with notable admirers including Horace Walpole and William Godwin. From a set of small mezzotint portraits of actresses and singers, published by the printseller William Richardson in 1780, apparently to follow up a similar set of actor portraits published the previous year. Engraved after a painting by draughtsman and singer Robert Dighton (1751-1814) by the mezzotint engraver and printseller Robert Laurie (1755?-1836). A portrait of Ye Mingchen (1807-1859) known as Commissioner Yeh, a Canton official who fought British influence in the aftermath of the First Opium War and who was involved in the beginning of the Second. An extract from the letter of the Yiuces [?] China Confinement. Lieutenant-General Henry Hope Crealock (1831–91) was a captain in the 90th Light Infantry during the Crimean War, was an accomplished draughtsman, who also sketched during the Indian Mutiny, Opium Wars in China and the Zulu campaign (for the Illustrated London News).

The two daughters of Philip Yorke, 2nd Earl Hardwicke, and his wife, Jemima, Countess De Grey and Baroness of Crudwell. The two children stand in a garden beside a sphinx on a pedestal, Lady Amabel Grey on the left with a dove perched on her right hand, and Lady Mary Jemima running towards her holding another dove, a poodle at her heels. The children grew up to become: Amabel Hume-Campbell, Countess de Grey (1751-1833), the political writer and amateur artist; and Mary Jemima Robinson, known as Lady Grantham (1757-1830), mother of Prime Minister Viscount Goderich.

Joseph Yorke, Baron Dover (1724-1792), diplomat, from the 'Westminster Magazine'. Yorke was aide-de-Camp of the Duke of Cumberland and was present at the Battle of Culloden. He became Britain's representative at the Hague at the end of the Anglo-Dutch wars, as alluded to by the Dutch scene on a frozen lake below the portrait. Later MP for Dover and created Baron Dover in 1788.
