Portrait of Richard Barry, Earl of Barrymore (1769-93), depicted as Cupid sitting on the grass beside a rose bush. With his back to the viewer, he looks over his shoulder while playing a lyre, all within a circular frame. As a young man the engraver, Isaac Jehner (1750-1818), had a series of accidents that broke his thighs and left arm, which were badly treated, leaving him on limited stature and disabled. He published a memoir, unusual for an engraver, called 'Fortune's Football' in 1806, described by Alexander as 'a pioneering account by a person with disabilites of his experiences'.

A tug of war between the navy and the army, which is represented by one of the Scottish regiments, with the team all wearing kilts. [&] Two gentlemen wrestling in a field, watched by numerous spectators, includin an elderly gentleman with his dog, to the left, and a group of figures under a tree to the right. This pair are from a series of 'British Sports and Games' by Edwin Buckman, with the other in the series titled 'Football' (Rugby). Each print is signed in pencil in the lower left corner, with a dedication reading, 'To W. H. May. Kindest Regards 1886'.

He was a pupil of Ben Sayers Snr. before joining Tantallon Golf Club in North Berwick. He played 13 times in the Amateur Championship from 1897 to 1914 and won the event twice in 1903 and 1909. He also played in 7 Open Championships and was leading amateur four times.

Andrew Ernest Stoddart (1863-1915), Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1893. He has the unique distinction in captaining England in three distinct sports; cricket, rugby union and Australian rules football. After retiring he fell into debt and, with failing health, he shot himself and was buried in an unmarked grave.

A tug of war between the navy and the army, which is represented by one of the Scottish regiments, with the team all wearing kilts. This was the first print in a series of British sports and games by Buckman, followed by Wrestling and Football (rugby).

Edward Wynyard was an all-round sportsman who earned an international football cap and could reportedly cut 'very beautiful figures on ice'. He was captain of the Hampshire Cricket Club and a Captain of the Welsh Regiment. His best scoring, which included three successive centuries,- a then unparalleled achievement in County matches,- was one of the incidents of that cricket season.
