Portrait of Sir William Anstruther, Lord Anstruther (d. 1711), almost half-length, turned to the left within an oval frame, his head facing slightly towards the viewer. He wears a long curled wig, cloak, and lace cravat. Anstruther was a Scottish judge and politician from an ancient Scottish family. He represented Fife in the Scottish Parliament and, following the Revolution of 1688, became a Lord of Session and Privy Councillor. He was created a Baronet of Nova Scotia in 1694 and later appointed a Lord of Justiciary. A strong supporter of the Union, he also published Essays, Moral and Divine (1701).

According to family tradition, Swift was staying with the family and chanced upon Blachford's wife Elinor reading aloud to her children. Swift derisively remarked, ''Is it a woman pretending to teach?''; ''Yes, Sir'', Mrs Blachford replied, '''tis a very foolish book lately published called 'Gulliver’s Travels'''. The Blachfords were the grandparents of poet Mary Tighe (1772-1810)

Apprenticed at the age of eleven to a farmer, Bloomfield was too small and frail for field labour, and four years later he came to London to work for a shoemaker. The poem that made his reputation, The Farmer's Boy, was written in a garret in Bell Alley, Coleman Street.

Three-quarter length seated portrait of Dorothy Brownlow (née Mason) (1664-1700) her hair in curls and wearing an earring, she is shown in a low-cut dress trimmed with pearls, one hand holding flowers in her lap and the other plucking a blossom from a plant at left; in the background are a fluted pillar to the right and a mansion to the left. Portrait of Dorothy before her marriage to Sir William Brownlow, 4th Baronet (1665–1701) in July 1688. She was the daughter and heir of Sir Richard Mason (1633–85), a politician and courtier to Charles II who owned estates at Bishop's Castle, Salop and Sutton Surrey. Wissing’s (1656-87) oil painting of Lady Brownlow which hangs at Belton House in Lincolnshire.

Born in Portugal, a marriage to Charles II was agreed in 1661 (Catherine's marriage dowry included Tangier and Bombay). While committed to her husband, Catherine was unsuccessful at court owing to her lack of beauty and sophistication. Her childlessness was the cause of great misery while Charles' many mistresses were the bane of her life. After Charles' death she remained in England until 1692, when she returned to Portugal. Mezzotint after William Wissing (1656-87), the preeminent portraitist in England between the death of Lely and rise of Kneller.

A three-quarter portrait of Charles II of Spain (1661-1700), in armour, in a tent before a battle scene. His death, childless, led to the War of the Spanish Succession. The artist has been circumspect in his depiction of the king, removing the 'Habsburg jaw'.

The First Duke of Marlborough's daughters Henrietta (1681-1733, the second Duchess of Marlborough) and Anne (1683-1716, later Lady Anne Spencer, ancestress of both Sir Winston Churchill and Diana, Princess of Wales). The plate was originally published by Beckett, but Challoner Smith notes 'Three known'.

A three-quarter seated portrait of Alured Clarke (1696-1742), appointed Dean of Exeter in 1741 but dying the following year. He co-founded the Devon and Exeter Hospital, laying the foundation stone in August 1741.

A bust portrait in oval of Richard de Courcy (1744-1803), in clerical robes, hair cut with a short fringe. Born in Ireland and educated at Trinity College Dublin, he came to England after theological disagreements with the Bishop of Dublin prevented him being ordained. After his ordination by the Bishop of Lichfield he became curate of Sawbury, Salop, in 1770 (the year of this portrait), then Vicar of St.Alkmond's, Shrewsbury, in 1774, a post he retained until his death in 1803.
