William Bradford was Chaplain to the British Army during the Peninsular War, and accompanied Sir John Moore on the retreat to Corunna, where Moore was killed. Published in his 'Sketches of the Country, Character, and Costume, in Portugal and Spain, Made During the Campaign and on the Route of the British Army, in 1808 and 1809'. Abbey: 135.

Portrait bust of Wellington in uniform with cross and star, Order of the Golden Fleece suspended from a ribbon around his neck. Isabey used this ink stamp on authorised prints after his paintings. Lugt 1478.
