Louise was mistress to King Louis XIV at seventeen years old and had five children with him, two of whom survived infancy. She was religious throughout her life and joined the Carmelite convent after finally leaving the Royal court. She died as sister Louis of Mercy. Published by Nicolas Bonnart (c.1637-1718) of the Bonnart brothers renowned for their breadth of work on contemporary fashion and costume.
