Pair of colour-printed stipples. 410 x 505mm (16 x 19¾") & 420 x 515mm (16½ x 20¼"). Platemark of 'Musique' taped, repaired tears in margins; 'Polichinelle' trimmed to plate.
Two scenes of affluent families in classical gardens being entertained by travelling showmen. In 'Musique' a woman and two children watch a fiddler and a woman with a tamborine with a clothed monkey; a dog has its paw on the monkey's shoulder, a large white rabbit sits to one side and a turkey stands near the fiddler's feet. In 'Polichinelle' the family watch a man playing a flute with one hand, a drum with the other, while making two marionettes (one is Punch) dance with string tied to his knee. His boy collects coins in a hat, taking a sealed letter from a young girl.
