A portrait of French mathematician, astronomer and early political leader of the French Revolution Jean Silvain Bailly (1736-1793). Bailly was the first to take the Tennis Court Oath on June 20th 1789 and became mayor of Paris following the storming of the Bastille. Bailly was executed during the Reign of Terror.

He succeeded his mentor, Cardinal Richelieu. His personal library was the origin of the Bibliotheque Mazarine in Paris.

A bust portrait of Louis Philippe Joseph, Duke of Orléans, wearing a hat embellished with feathers, looking to the right, in an oval fram surmounted by garlands of oak leaves. Louis Philippe, duc d'Orléans (1747-1793), actively supported the French Revolution and adopted the name Philippe Égalité, but was nonetheless guillotined during the Reign of Terror. Following his career, the term Orléanist came to be attached to the movement in France that favoured constitutional monarchy. From a series of portraits representing the deputies of the three Orders, published by Levachez from 1789.
