A group portrait of 14 members of All-England Eleven, a cricket team formed by William Clarke in 1846 to tour England to play local teams, thus bringing first class cricket to the regions. Shown here are some of the professionals: Clarke, Alfred Mynn, William Hillyer, George Parr, William Lillywhite & William Denison; and a notable amateur, Nicholas 'Felix' Wanostrocht, the artist of this portrait. In 1859 the first ever overseas cricket tour, playing in the United States and Canada, included six members of the All-England Eleven.
