Garibaldi's troops fire at the church within the cover of trees, creating gun smoke. Carlo Bossoli (1815-84) made his name with his paintings of the Crimea, made 1828-43, which became fashionable when the Crimean War started in 1854.

Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire, soon after the mineral spring was discovered there. The Lord of the Manor, Thomas Hotchkin, spent a great deal of money building the Victoria Hotel and the Spa Baths shown here. The hotel burnt down in 1920 while the Spa Baths closed when the well collapsed in 1983. Also shown in the print is the church and the Great Northern Railway running nearby. No doubt this print was made to publicise the new developments in Woodhall.

The Lord of the Manor, Thomas Hotchkin, spent a great deal of money building the Victoria Hotel and the Spa Baths shown here. The hotel burnt down in 1920 while the Spa Baths closed when the well collapsed in 1983. Also shown in the print is the church and the Great Northern Railway running nearby. No doubt this print was made to publicise the new developments in Woodhall.

John Le Capelain (1812-48) commemorated the 1846 visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert with 'The Queen's Visit to Jersey', which was presented to her as an official souvenir by the States of Jersey. John Thomas Baines 1820-1875. The expedition of James Chapman and Thomas Baines from Walvis Bay to the Zambesi in 1861-62. The Victoria Falls, Zambesi River sketched on the spot during that Journey. He travelled to South West Africa (now Namibia) in 1862, and on 23 July of that year he reached Victoria Falls. It was on this expedition that Baines painted many of his famous scenes which were reproduced in the album of prints, The Victoria Falls, Zambezi River was published by Day in London 1865. He went to Victoria Falls primarily to meet Livingstone and clear his name, but he arrived too late - Livingstone had already left the area.
