Etching by Thomas Orde-Powlett (1746-1807), politician also known for his etched caricatures (mostly of Cambridge celebrities) which were published by his drawing-master, the well-known printmaker James Bretherton. An impression in the British Museum is inscribed verso 'Shoeblack of Trin[ity] Coll[ege] Camb[ridge]'.

Caricature of Sir William Browne (1692-1774), physician. Browne was known for his eccentricities (he was also caricatured by Samuel Foote in 'The Devil on Two Sticks') but nonetheless became president of the College of Physicians in 1765-6 and earned a fortune. Etched by Thomas Orde-Powlett (1746-1807), politician also known for his etched caricatures (mostly of Cambridge celebrities) which were published by his drawing-master, the well-known printmaker James Bretherton.

A portrait of a man and a woman, both carrying baskets of crockery, by Thomas Orde-Powlett (1746-1807), a politician also known for his etched caricatures (mostly of Cambridge celebrities) which were published by his drawing-master, the well-known printmaker James Bretherton. The British Museum's impression has a pencil annotation 'Mrs. Hammond Printseller & D. Randal Printman at Cambridge', which they have taken as an identification. However as they have more than one Orde caricature with 'D. Randal' on the reverse it is more likely that Randal sold the print rather that is the subject.

One of a number of prints of towns-people of Cambridge, most of which are dated 1768. The BM has an example annotated with 'D. Randal & Mrs. Hammond, fruitsellers of Cambridge'.

A caricature of Voltaire (according to the ink mss) in the charade of Julius Caesar, wearing a plumed helmet and frock coat. A rare image by Thomas Orde (1740-1807), Lord Bolton. Voltaire (1694-1778) moved to Ferney in 1759, where he delighted in the theatre de Chatelaine on the border between Ferney and Geneva, in which theatre was banned. He encouraged the theatre and they often performed his plays, drawing in huge crowds.
