Very fine hand-coloured mezzotint, sheet 350 x 250mm (15¼ x 10"). On 18th century watermarked paper. Trimmed to plate. A young boy leans across a small round table, using a thin strip of paper to tickle the nose of a girl asleep in a high-backed wooden chair to the right. He raises a finger to his lips as he stifles a laugh, both figures softly illuminated by the candle on the table. Plate re-issued by Robert Sayer with the series number '217' added to right. CS 19.
