The City Council Chamber, City Hall, Amsterdam. The interior of the Chamber during a meeting of the town council. The City of Amsterdam is run by the city council and a college of aldermen. The council is the highest authority in the city of Amsterdam is responsible for all important decisions. Amongst other responsibilities, the council sets the city's annual budget. The grand painting in the centre is Govaert Flinck "Soloman's Prayer for Wisdom" commissioned for the chamber in 1658. Gemeente Amsterdam Stadsarchief: 010094003235.

Ploos van Amstel.

Etching with facsimile signature. Sheet 310 x 245mm (12¼ x 9¾"), on wove paper. Trimmed within plate, as issued, edges chipped with tears taped, stains.
A half-length portrait of Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-98), on a scroll intertwined with oakleaves, musical instruments, a palette and a caduceus. A collector of old master drawings, Ploos van Amstel had many copied and published in a series, 'Ectypa', with his family coat of arms on the back. The series was continued by Christian Josi's ''Collection d'imitations de dessins'', 1821. On the reverse is the coat of arms of Ploos van Amstel, Jossi I Stamp. Abbey 211.
