Two women in ornate dress, lean on the ledge, against an oriental background. Minarets in background imply Damascus or Persia, the origin of the rose. One holds a peacock feather fan and damask roses in the other. Roses used for perfume. Lithographic printers William Kohler and L.M. Lefevre were in business together at 52 Newman Street, London circa 1833-1835. Kohler set up on his own by 1838 at the latest, leaving Lefevre to trade as L.M. Lefevre. See Ref: 68724 & 68726

Hand coloured lithograph on blue-tinted paper, sheet 220 x 170mm. 8¾ x 6¾". Margins trimmed; fine early colour.
Social satire: a huntsman with a red coat, possibly a novice from the city, is sent flying head-first over a gate by his grey horse's sudden halt. I.(or J.)B. Brookes (1830 - 1837; fl.) published his own lithographic satires. His monogram appears similar to ‘HB' (John Doyle), perhaps deliberately. BM Satires undescribed.

A scene in the interior of Westminster Hall, with firemen working pumps in a successful effort to save the building from the fire that destroyed the two Houses of Parliament. The flames can be seen through the window and door. To the right is scaffolding, which had already been erected for repairs. This print was published just two weeks after the fire.
