I. George Laminit fec. [n.d. c.1815.] Hand-coloures stipple, sheet 225 x 155mm (9 x 6). Trimmed to plate. Costume plate of a Tyrol farmer sitting with sabre in front of a rock wall, holding his rifle with his arms and a morning star. Johann Georg Laminit (1775–1848) was a German artist and engraver, known for detailed hand-colored etchings depicting rural Tyrolean subjects, such as farmers in traditional dress (Tracht) from the Zillertal region, works that reflect the 19th-century (Biedermeier) interest in folk life and regional costume.
