Alfred de Dreux (1810-60) painted portraits of both people and horses, often together. In 1848 he followed King Louis-Philippe into exile in Surrey, but returned to France in 1852, taking commissions from Napoleon III. He died on a visit to England.

A tomb and village set in the undulating hillside between Kpwloon and Hong Kong; a couple set some incense down by a tombstone and kneel to pray, other people in the village with their livestock. The view was published in Borget's 'Sketches of China and the Chinese' in 1842, the year that the British started leasing Hong Kong.

The courtyard to the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune. Founded in 1443, the hospice was established by Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of Burgundy, as a hospital for the poor and needy. Since 1851, a charity wine auction has been held at the hospice, taking place on the third Sunday in November amid a three day festival devoted to the food and wines of Burgundy called 'Les Trois Glorieuses'.
