Military encampment with farrier mending horseshoes. One of several good-quality engravings made in the early 18th century after Philips Wouwermans (1619-68), Dutch painter specialising in horses, who was well represented in important collections during this period. He painted many battle scenes, army camps and stables and is well represented in the collection of London's National Gallery.
