Three-quarter-length standing portrait of Madame du Barry, turned to the right and glancing at the viewer, leaning her left elbow on a table, or windowsill, while holding a cameo, her right hand resting on her wrist, dressed in a low-neck gown with a pearl choker and pearls in her hair, with a curtain to the left and a landscape seen through a window on the right. Jeanne Bécu, Comtesse du Barry (1743-93) was the last mistress of King Louis XV of France, she was renowned for her influence in the court of Versailles. During the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution, Jeanne was imprisoned over accusations of treason by her servant Zamor; particularly being suspected of assisting émigrés to flee from the Revolution. The titlepage of a series of 55 plates reproducing the frescos painted by Raphael in the Vatican Logge. It features a medallion portrait of Queen Christina of Sweden, surrounded by a decorative design feturing military trophies, cornucopiae and a pari of lions. Christina (1626-1689) became Queen of Sweden in 1632, but in 1654 she converted to Catholicism and abdicated, moving to Rome where she became a patron of the arts. She is one of only three women buried in the Vatican Grottoes under St Peter's Basilica.

A half-length portrait in oval of Dutch general Menno van Coehoorn (1641-1704), wearing wig, cravat and armour, a city under bombardment behind. He was an expert in designing, taking and defending fortifications, most famously the Second Siege of Namur (1695), a key event of the Nine Years War in Flanders.

Henri III (1551-89), son of Henri II and Catherine de' Medici, was elected king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1573, before unexpectedly becoming King of France the following year, after which he renounced the Polish throne. His childless marriage sparked the last of the French Wars of Religion. He was assassinated by Dominican monk Jacques Clément.

A medallion portrait of Prince Stanislaw Jan Jablonowski (1634-1702) within a military-themed decorative border. A military leader, he led the right wing of Polish cavalry forces at the Battle of Vienna in 1683. He was a candidate for the Polish throne after the death of King John III Sobieski in 1693. This state lacks Mariette's name and the bottom right of the plinth and the shield are unfinished.

Three-quarter-length seated portrait of Marie Antoinette (1755-1793) in her cell at the Conciergerie, awaiting trial by the Revolutionary Tribunal, turned to the right while facing forward, dressed in a black gown with a long veil over her cap, a medallion of the Dauphin at her neck, her right hand resting on a book in her lap, 'a life of Mary, Queen of Scots,' beside her sits a bust of Louis XVI and a paper bearing parts of his will, with a barred prison window behind her to the upper left.
