Portrait of Archibald Campbell (1658-1703), first Duke of Argyll, half length in an oval on a pedestal, wearing wig, cravat and armour; coats of arms along each side and below portrait. Campbell's father had been attained by James II for his part in Monmouth's Rebellion. After trying and failing to regain James's favour, Campbell went to to The Hague and supported William and Mary's quest for the throne, by which he regained his estates. He became a privy councillor and William's chief advisor on Scottish affairs, for which he was made a duke in 1701.

A half-length portrait in oval of William Johnstone (1664-1721), 2nd Earl of Annandale and Hartfell and 1st Marquess of Annandale. He was appointed a Knight of the Thistle in 1704, when the extra line in the title was added. He opposed the Union in 1707.
