Extremely fine & scarce pair of coloured etchings. Each 295 x 425mm (11½ x 16¾"), with large margins. On paper watermarked 'J Whatman 1824.' Uncut. Very slight cockling to the paper. Few very small patches of staining.
A pair of plates giving satirical meanings to musical terms. Plate 1 is set in Fleet Debtors' Prison, with a 33-point key, including Pomposo, Hornpipe, Falsetto & Lamentations; Plate 2 is in Vauxhall Gardens, with the bandstand, a 34-point key listing 'Fingering the Notes' for a pickpocket.
