A young girl knits outside a cottage, sitting on an upturned basket, watched by a cat. Behind, in a mountainous landscape, are two goats. One of a set of four allegories of the four nations that became the United Kingdom later in the month of publication. The title is hidden within the cartouche at bottom. Ex Collection of the Hon. Landscape with three naked women about to bathe in a forest stream, with lines from James Thomson's important poem 'The Seasons' below. Engraved after Nathan Drake (1726-78), York-based artist. Valentine Green also engraved a 'Winter' after Drake to accompany it. Ex: collection of The Hon. Christopher Lennox-Boyd.
