Anne Carr, Countess of Bedford (1620-1684) was wife to William, Duke of Bedford and daughter or Robert Carr, Earl of Somerset and Frances Howard. According to Burke's Peerage, she was born in 1615 in the Tower of London, but other sources give 1620. Lombart's most famous work was the series of twelve portraits after van Dyck that he engraved around 1660, often known as the 'Countesses' from the Latin of their titles. Mariette in his entry on Lombart in his Abecedario stated that this set alone would suffice to place him 'au rang des premiers graveurs'. All twelve plates are the same size, and show three-quarter-length figures, ten women and two men, in 15mm wide borders that imitate frames of the period.

A scene depicting Time, an old winged man, taking clippers to the young Cupid's wings, who tries to struggle out of his grasp. The personified image of Time has its roots in the Greek association of time ('chronos') with Cronos, their god of agriculture, which is why he is often depicted with a scythe, as here. It is possible that Van Dyck's arresting characterisation of Time derives from Brozino's depiction of Time in 'Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time', who somewhat sinisterly gazes upon the ambiguous scene of Cupid and Venus. Possibly Van Dyck's scene asserts with more force that time is fleeting to the detriment of love. A scene depicting Time, an old winged man, taking clippers to the young Cupid's wings, who tries to struggle out of his grasp. The personified image of Time has its roots in the Greek association of time ('chronos') with Cronos, their god of agriculture, which is why he is often depicted with a scythe, as here. It is possible that Van Dyck's arresting characterisation of Time derives from Brozino's depiction of Time in 'Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time', who somewhat sinisterly gazes upon the ambiguous scene of Cupid and Venus. Possibly Van Dyck's scene asserts with more force that time is fleeting to the detriment of love. Anna Dalkeith, Countess of Morton (d.1654), was daughter or Sir Edward Villiers and wife to Robert Douglas, Earl of Morton. Lombart's most famous work was the series of twelve portraits after van Dyck that he engraved around 1660, often known as the 'Countesses' from the Latin of their titles. Mariette in his entry on Lombart in his Abecedario stated that this set alone would suffice to place him 'au rang des premiers graveurs'. All twelve plates are the same size, and show three-quarter-length figures, ten women and two men, in 15mm wide borders that imitate frames of the period.

Du Quesnoy moved to Rome in 1618 (he was a friend and housemate of Nicholas Poussin) and spent the rest of his life in Italy (earning the sobriquet 'il Fiammingo'- 'the Flemish'). Apparently after a portrait by Van Dyck, and published by the British engraver Richard Brookshaw when he was briefly resident in du Quesnoy's hometown of Brussels.
