Plate 3: two bust-length portraits of characters from Miguel de Cervantes's "Don Quixote", the protagonist to the left; Sancho Panza to the right. Don Quixote, published in two volumes in 1605 and 1615; Quixote sets out to revive chivalry, recruiting a simple farmer, Sancho Panza, as his squire.

Rare pen lithograph. Sheet 275 x 440mm (11 x 7¼"). Trimmed. Creases where previously folded and outer edges. Nicks to edges. Tear losing a tiny section of the key numbers.
Explanatory key to a plate representing Queen Victoria receiving the Holy Sacrament at her coronation. The painting is in the Royal Collection. See reference 45923 for key to the christening of Victoria.

Key to Mr. Leslie's Picture of the Christening of the Princess Royal.

Pen lithograph. Sheet: 255 x 410mm (10 x 16"). Trimmed and laid on an album sheet.
A keyplate to Leslie's painting of the christening of Victoria, the Princess Royal, on the 10th February 1841. Leslie was given special permission to attend the ceremony in order to capture the scene in sketches, he then spent time studying the portraits of the various figures over the coming months. The painting was finished in 1842 and an engraving was published in 1849. The work is still housed in the Royal Collection.
