Aquatint, plate 255 x 285mm (10 x 11¼"), with margins on three sides. Trimmed to plate.
A copy of a 1690 print, with additional information printed underneath; on either side of the 1809 title is a short column entitled: Extracts from the Parish Books. Most likely after one of the Dutch/British artists either: Bernard Lens I (c.1630–1707) or his son Bernard Lens II (1659–1725).

Portrait of Mary I (1542-1587), Queen of Scots, described by O'Donoghue as taken from a miniature by Bernard Lens (Lens painted several such, one of which is now in the V&A Museum, London). The Lens miniatures, very popular and much copied in the early 18th century, were themselves copied from a miniature belonging to the Duke of Hamilton believed to represent Mary, Queen of Scots. CS: 98, unlisted state with no address but showing left ear as II.

Rare mezzotint. 230 x 185mm (9 x 7¼"), large margins. Crease across upper image and small tear in upper margins into plate.
Semele sitting under a tree on the right, holding a bunch of grapes and looking at a satyr which leans over the tree trunk, smiling at the infant Bacchus who stands by his mother's knee.

Showing the temporary tower following a partial collapse in 1716, just before the church was rebuilt in Palladian style in 1736-40. The third generation Bernard Lens (1682-1740), limner to George I and George II, drawing-master to the Duke of Cumberland, the princesses Mary and Louisa, and to Walpole, who paid special testimony to his excellent method of teaching.
