Woodcut. 65 x 80mm (2½ x 3¼"), set in Latin letterpress.
A sheet from Giacomo Filippo Foresti da Bergamo's 'Novissime Hystorię', with a rather diagramatical prospect of Marseilles to illustrate the account of the city's founding by the Greeks in 600BC. Foresti was a noted historian in his day: his 'Supplementum Chronicarum' (1491), was plagarised by Hartmann Schedel for the more famous 'Nuremberg Chronicle' (1493).
