Aldenham School, an independent school in Hertfordshire, with crest and motto below image. The School was founded in 1597 by Richard Platt, a proprietor of a London brewery and Master of the Brewer's Company in 1576 and 1581. In 1596 Queen Elizabeth I granted him letters patent to build "the Free Grammar School and Almshouses" at Aldenham; the foundation stone was laid in 1597.

Sisygambis, mother of Darius III, prostrates herself before Hephaestion, mistaking him for Alexander. Instead of flying into a rage, Alexander dismisses this error as of no importance and puts the family under his protection. Prints of this size were unusual during this period, due to expense. This engraving of a painting belonging to Louis XIV was published as a propaganda piece, lauding the magnificence of royalty. Gérard Edelinck, the engraver, has also chosen to make dividing line jagged, so the join would disappear in the darkest parts of the image. The original oil, painted c.1660, is still at Versailles.

He oversaw the sale of Alaska to the United States, fought a brief war with Turkey in 1877-8, and incorporated Poland into Russia in response to the uprising of 1863. He was assassinated by revolutionaries in 1881.

In 1732 Samuel Sympson advertised for sale a volume of '164 different designs of the celebrated Master Le Potre' [Jean Lepautre] ... The said Mr Sympson having purchased the plates from France, the prints will be sold at a very low rate'. Sympson moved to Maiden Lane soon afterwards.

By Edward Morrison de Courcy Short, b.1857, who attended Charterhouse School, Surrey (1870-6). He passed the Ceylon Civil Service exam in 1878, and in 1905 became Chairman of the Municipal Council and Mayor of Colombo, retiring in 1910.

It shows Abercromby in discomfort from the spent bullet that hit him, causing his death a week later. The finshed print was published in 1804, with a dedication to the Abercromby's memory and a remarque of the trophies of war. From 'de Loutherbourg's Campaigns in Egypt and Italy'.

The plate was published in Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach's 'Entwürst Einer Historischen Architectur', a study of the architecture of the ancient world. Fischer von Erlach (1656-1723) was a successful Austrian architect: his baroque works include the Schönbrunn Palace, Karlskirche, and the Austrian National Library in Vienna. He also studied ancient architecture, publishing 'A Plan of Civil and Historical Architecture' in 1721, taking on classical influences in his building.
