Landscape with bridge in background, fishermen casting nets from a small boat, and a group of figures in the foreground, including a lady putting on stockings, typical of Claude Lorrain's earlier works. Engraving (in reverse) of Claude's painting 'The Ford', executed by Francis Vivares while the painting was in the collection of the physician and collector Dr Richard Mead. The painting is now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and it is now believed that it was executed in 1636 rather than 1656 as claimed on the lettered later state of this print. From a successful and well-known series of landscape prints from paintings in important British collections.

Durdham Down has an impressive view of the winding River Avon and the Welsh mountains in the distance. Along with Clifton Down, it formed 400 acres of grassland on the edge of Bristol up to the Avon Gorge. Whereas Clifton had been bought by the Society of Merchant Venturers in 1686, Durdham was still part of the manorial estate of Henbury in the late 18th century. This was until 1861 when it was purchased for the use of the citizens of Bristol. After and from the plate first published in 1756 by Thomas Smith of Derby ( c.1720 - 1767), father of J.R. Smith.

A view of Kendricks, Hambleden. Later additions, include ball finials aligned with the giant pilasters, this was done in 1724 as the rectory for the Reverend Scawen Kendrick. Prior to this the property belonged to Philadelphia Carey Lady Scrope, a cousing and Lady-In-Waiting to Queen Elizabeth I. It ceased to be a rectory in 1938 and was acquired by the 3rd Viscount Hambleden and renamed Kendricks.

On the right cattle roam into view and men are fishing in the turbulent waters in the foreground, one reaches out to take a fish from a boy to use as bait. Number 6 in the series 'Eight of the most extraordinary Prospects in the Mountainous Parts of Derbyshire and Staffordshire commonly called the Peak and Moorlands.' This series of eight Peak district views was the first major set Smith produced (originally published in 1743), the series was republished by Smith in 1757 and re-issued a third time by Boydell in 1769; several plates were engraved by Vivares and a few by others, Granville, Benoist, Scotin and Roberts.

A view of the Pons Aemilius, ending mid-stream. The oldest stone bridge over the Tiber, it was built in 179BC just to the south of Isola Tiberina, but after being restored many times, it was abandoned after a collapse in 1598, becoming known as 'Ponte Rotto', the Broken Bridge. All but one arch of the bridge shown here was demolished in 1887 to make room for the Ponte Palatino. A view of Moat Island, with the Duke of Cumberland in the centre with his guests. Behind is a pleasure pavilion he had had built for his personal use. To the left workmen are clearing up leaves. From the folio 'Eight Views of Windsor Great Park' by Thomas Sandby (1723-98). Thomas Sandby had been private secretary and draughtsman to Cimberland since 1743, and when Cumberland was made Ranger Thomas was made his deputy. While he laid out improvements to the Park, including the creation of Virginia Water from a stream, he drew these eight scenes. The series was reissued by Boydell in 1772 with his address added.

A landscape with a woman sitting at the side of a path, a child leaning against her shoulder. She has a basket attached to a stick beside her, holding out one hand towards a lady on horseback who pauses to listen to another woman, holding out both hands. In the middle gound, a man is driving cattle towards a town at the top of the hill in the background. After founding member of the Royal Academy, Francesco Zuccarelli (1702 - 1788).

A landscape with a woman lying asleep at the edge of a stream, her head on her basket, with one arm around her gourd and staff, which trails in the water. Two children are beside her, one reaching out with a stick to tickle her face. A woman stands next to them, with a basket, staff and a dog, pointing towards the town in the distance on the left, while a man driving cattle along the bank behind them turns to look at the travellers. After founding member of the Royal Academy, Francesco Zuccarelli (1702 - 1788).
