Mrs. Caroline Acton.
A.M. Kersey. [c.1830.] Very rare lithograph on india, india dimensions 310 x 260mm (12¼ x 10¼"). Slight printer's crease in title. Unusual portrait of a woman holding spectacles in her left hand, while in her right holding a book open to show a portrait of a young woman. The sitter is probably the daughter of the successful Suffolk landowner Nathaniel Lee Acton (1725-95), who, along with other members of his family, was painted by Gainsborough. The artist A.M. Kersey has not been identified. Ex collection of the Late Hon. C. Lennox-Boyd; not in O'D.
