Seated half portrait of Sir Titus Salt (1803-1876), inclined to the left and left-gazing. Salt was a successful textile manufacturer and business owner in West Yorkshire. He is most famous for the construction of 'Salt's Mill' and the village of Saltaire, near Bradford.
