Portrait of Mrs. Sandby shown seated three-quarter length facing to the right, with bobbin and thread resting in her lap. She turns to face the viewer, adorned with pearl earrings and dressed in a satin gown featuring lace cuffs and decorative ribbons. One in the British Museum has an ink note 'Miss Trumbull wife of Col. Sandys, 2d Son of D Sandys.' This could possibly be Martin Sandys (baptised 24 November 1729, Ombersley – 26 December 1768), Colonel, Equerry to the Duke of Cumberland.
