Full length portrait of Sir David Baird (1757-1929), in uniform, standing beside a white horse, right hand pointing. Baird served in India, capturing Pondicherry in 1793 and leading the storming party at Seringapatam in 1799; he served in Egypt in 1801; he commanded the 1805-6 expedition against the Cape of Good Hope with complete success, capturing Cape Town; and during the Peninsular War he was briefly Commander of the British forces, during the Battle of Corunna in 1819, between the death of John Moore and his own wounding. A three-quarter portrait of Joseph Hume (1777-1855), standing by a pillar, hand resting on papers on a table. After serving as a surgeon to the East India Company's 7th Sepoy Regiment, he became Tory MP for Weymouth in 1812. He became more radical: in 1830 he set up the 'Metropolitan Political Union' in London, with Henry Hunt and Daniel O'Connell. Ex: collection of The Hon. Christopher Lennox-Boyd.

Portrait of William Huskisson PC (1770 - 1830), British statesman, financier, and Member of Parliament for several constituencies, including Liverpool. He is commonly known as the world's first widely reported railway passenger casualty, since he was run over and fatally injured by Robert Stephenson's pioneering locomotive Rocket at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830. However, a number of fatal railway accidents had already occurred before this. Ex: collection of The Hon. Christopher Lennox-Boyd.

A full length portrait of Alexander (Alistair) Ranaldson Macdonell (1773-1828), clan chief of Clan MacDonell of Glengarry, wearing Scottish dress with a Glengarry (the plumed cap he invented) and sporran, hand resting on a musket. His romantic attachment to the Gaelic custom and costume did not stop him evicting his tenants to clear his lands for sheep farming, prompting Robert Burns to write 'Address of Beelzebub' about Glengarry. Portrait, almost half length in an oval, directed to left with left hand tucked into his jacket, looking towards the viewer with a slight smile, wearing a dark suit and pale wig tied at the nape of his neck. Plate to Dibdin's Typographical Antiquities, vol. 3, facing p 271. The 'Typographic Antiquities' was begun by Ames and continued by Dibdin, with augmentations by Herbert: four volumes were published 1810-19, printed by William Savage for Millar. The edition was never completed. George Steevens (1736-1800) was an English Shakespearean commentator. He collected a valuable library, rich in Elizabethan literature and a large collection of Hogarth prints; his notes on said subject were incorporated in John Nichol's Genuine Works of Hogarth. In 1767 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society.
