A theatrical scene of Napoleon Bonaparte leaping from the British warship Bellerophon (where he had surrendered after Waterloo) to the Northumberland (the ship that took him to St Helena. He soars over Henri Gatien, Comte Bertrand, who stands with a ladder and the accoutrements of empire, in a barge. Bertrand accompanied Napoleon into exile.
