Seven men in a tavern discuss the peace convention with Spain that resolved the Nootka Crisis in 1790. A map of the area adorns the wall behind. Avoiding war was a diplomatic triumph for William Pitt, but the Crisis was seen by others as a means to boost his popularity before a general election, alluded to by the poster for 'Much Ado about Nothing'.
