A satirical scene: As John Bull knocks a brigand (possibly Italian) to the ground an Irishman picks his pocket. The phrase 'England's Difficulty is Ireland's Opportunity' was first used by Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847); in 1868 'The London Review of Politics' described it as ''the meaning of Fenianism''. The publisher, Charles Westerton (1813-72) operated from 20 St George's Place, Hyde Park Corner.
