A satire on attempts to keep John Wilkes from taking his seat in 1769, showing him accosted by two attack dogs with the heads of Sir Norton Fletcher and the Duke of Grafton. On the left are two of his supporters, wearing clerical dress: John Horne Tooke says ''They know not what they do.''; and the lawyer, John Glynn, says ''There is no Precedent for this, either in Law or Equity! I declare it to be illegal''. On the right are other canines: Henry Fox, the Duke of Bedford and Lord Mansfield. Originally published in the Oxford Magazine, 1769.
