Whole-length seated portrait of the abolitionist Thomas Clarkson (1760-1846), quill in his hand, surrounded by artifacts of Africa, busts of Wilberforce and Granville Sharp on the mantelpiece. A founder member of the Committee for the Abolition of the Slave Trade with Granville Sharp and Josiah Wedgwood, it was Clarkson who persuaded Wilberforce to join.
