The side of the Portico of Octavia (Octavia the Younger, 69–11 BC, sister of Augustus), a colonnaded walkway around the temples of Jupiter Stator and Juno Regina, as well as a library, originally built by Augustus, but rebuilt twice during Imperial times. At the time of this scene it was a fish market and formed part of the walls of the Roman Ghetto.
The first state, before the plate number, issued unbound. From an early 19th century folder titled 'Roman Engravings. The Property of Major E.G.G. Rugdon[?]'.
