A Highland infantryman with musket and bayonet, in a melée around a destroyed Russian cannon. The Battle of Inkerman (November 5, 1854, part of the Crimean War), is known as the 'Soldiers' Battle' because foggy conditions meant that co-ordinated tactics were impossible so the soldiers had to use their own initiative.
